Kang Asep menjelaskan bahwa nama tebing diambil dari betapa mengagumkannya keindahan di kawasan tebing ini. Dimana sebuah tebing mampu menggambarkan keindahan, wibawa dan keluhuran, serta keagungan dalam satu waktu. Semua gambaran tersebut persis seperti refleksi dari keraton kerajaan.

Akhirnya kang Asep pun memutuskan untuk menamainya sebagai Tebing Keraton, atau pelafalan dalam bahasa Sunda sebenarnya Tebing Karaton. Namun terlanjur viral dengan nama Keraton, maka itulah yang menjadi namanya sekarang. Yang mana orang-orang dari komunitas sepedalah yang mengenalkannya pada masyarakat luas.

Orang orang dari komunitas sepeda yang melakukan aktivitas gowes dari Pusat Kota Bandung hingga ke sini, kemudian terpesona dengan keindahan alam yang ada. Tentunya masyarakat lebih memilih mengganti nama tebing yang ada di sana, ketimbang harus menumbalkan nyawa seseorang.

Begitulah kemudian nama Pasir Jontor berubah menjadi Tebing Keraton. Cerita mistis itu pula yang membuat destinasi wisata satu ini dianggap angker bagi sebagian orang. A short history of De Tjolomadoe

Historically, the sugar factory De Tjolomadoe or De Colomadu was first built in 1862 by Mangkunegara IV on behalf of the then Dutch East Indies government. This historic sugar factory in Karanganyar was created by a German architect named R. Kampf. The process of laying the foundation stone on December 8, 1861.

It is the first time that this sugar factory can produce about 3,700 quintals of sugar. Then the factory in De Colomadu was renovated in 1928 to expand the factory site and change the architecture of the old building. Then in 1950, after the independence of Indonesia, this sugar factory was taken over by the Indonesian government. And after being led by the Indonesian government, this factory stopped working in 1998.

After 20 years of neglect, the government has a plan to revive the sugar factory De Colomadu into a museum. However, this plan was rejected by the Mangkunegaran Palace as they felt they had more rights over the factory’s assets.

Finally, the revitalization project is still being carried out by the government and will be completed in 2018. So now we can see a tourist spot called De Tjolomadoe. The factory building is currently being converted into several places, namely Tjolomadoe Concert Hall, Museum, Besali Cafe, Sarkara Building and Shopping Area.

When visiting De Tjolomadoe, tourists can view various collections in the sugar factory museum. The Sugar Factory Museum is located at the Milling Station. In the milling station, we can still see the machines used to grind and produce large sugars.

The entrance fee for De Tjolomadoe for adults is IDR 35,000 and the admission ticket for children is IDR 25,000. When you enter the parking lot of the museum, there will be a fee of 2,000 per person, not per vehicle. So that tourists who only want to take pictures with the background of this sugar factory only pay 2 thousand.

For the opening times of the sugar factory museum in Karanganyar, it is open from 10am to 5pm. In addition, the museum part is also not open every day, because it is closed on Mondays.
